Crying she nodded and hugged her boyfriend, “I want to be with you forever too!”

The couple embrace amongst tears of joy as they walk hand in hand past the girl they just spoke of. Quietly she sits listening to her zune as she flips through her scrapbook.

“Sir where would you like to go?” the taxi driver said as a young man gets into his taxi.

The young man dressed in black, brushed the snow from his shoulders and replied, “Han River please ajusshi.”

“Right away.” The cab driver answered as he pulled away from the airport, “So are you on holiday in Seoul? Me.. hah this is my first time in the big city.. I’m from a small village out in the middle of no where.. it was a big shock coming here starting to work. City folk are sure different.”

The young man only smiled and then looked down at the pile of letters he had been holding.

The driver looked through his rear view window, “So… are those letters from your girlfriend? Oh sorry.. I shouldn’t intrude.”

“It’s alright ajusshi…” he said as he placed his hand on the piles of letters, “They are my unfinished letters to my girlfriend..”

“Boh? That’s a large stack? How many are there? Why didn’t you finish and send them to her? Poor girl must be waiting in front of her mail box everyday.. Aishh.. young boys these days.”

“731 letters.. one for each day I was gone.”

“731?!?!”

The young man nodded, “731 letters.. She was waiting for me.. but not anymore..”

As he looked out the window as they passed by the streets he once walked on hand in hand with her, his smile grew larger as he held onto his scarf. His sunglasses began to fog and tears began to drop.

“Young man we are here.” The driver said as he stopped, “You didn’t say where you wanted to get dropped off, so I assumed it must have been at one of the spots you kids like to come to look at the river. Young man, are you alright?”

The young man smiled as he wiped his face, “Yes ajusshi.. this is fine. How much do I owe you?”

“This ride is free think of it as my Christmas present to you. Now go to your girlfriend. The poor girl must be missing you dearly.”

“Thank you ajusshi” the young man said as he got out of the cab leaving 2000 won on the seat, “Please drive carefully in the snow and merry Christmas.”

“Merry Christmas to you too.” The driver said as he nodded to the young man who bowed and began to walk away, “Nice boy.. I hope one day my little girl can find someone like him to love.”

Just as he was about to drive off two girls knocked on his window, “Yes do you need a ride? “

“Umm no ajusshi.. but we wanted to ask you, do you know where that man is going that you just dropped off? The one wearing the red scarf and sunglasses?” One of the girls said excitedly while the other girl was on the phone talking.

“He said he was going to meet someone.. why do you ask?”

“Oh my god!!! It was him!!!! Unnie said that Dong Bang Shin Ki’s flight arrived about 20 minutes ago and that each of them got into separate taxis!!!”The other girl squealed as she jumped up and down.

“Ajusshi!!! Can you tell us where he is going please?!?!?!??!”

“Wait … what is Dong Bang Shin Ki?” The driver asked.

“ONLY THE BEST MUSIC GROUP EVER!! GOSH AJUSSHI HAVE YOU BEEN LIVING UNDER A ROCK?!?!?! TELL US WHERE IS HE GOING!!!”

“Oh.. Dong Bang Shin Ki… hah hah” the driver said nervously, “ I know them.. umm he was going to go to the noodle house about 9 blocks from here.. he asked to be dropped off here to avoid a commotion.”

The two girls screamed and ran off as they began to call their friends informing them of their findings.

The driver got out of his cab and watched as the two girls ran off, “Girls these days…” then he turned toward the direction the young man actually walked, ‘’Young man hopefully that buys you enough time… that girl must be some girl.. GOOD LUCK!!!”

“Aegi ah….” He says as he stands up and smiles.

She starts crying and laughing, “I must be going insane…. “ unable to hold it in any longer she yells out towards the river, “OPPA!!! WHERE ARE YOU!!! DID YOU FORGET OUR PROMISE???? DID YOU FORGET I’M WAITING ?!?!? I’M NOT WAITING ANYMORE!!! WHERE EVER YOU ARE IN JAPAN, I’M GOING TO FIND YOU!!!”

“Aegi ah…” he whispered as he held her in his arms, “I would never forget our promise..”

“Oppa?... “ the girl says as she drops her bag still crying, “Is that really you….”

“Yes..” he says as he turns her to face him, wiping her tears away, “I’m sorry I made you wait… but I’m home now..”

“Oppa!!!!” the two embrace tightly forgetting about the time and distance apart only thinking of now.

The young man looks at his girlfriend with loving eyes, holding her closer, “I’ve missed you so much.. I’m sorry I made you wait so long.. Let me .. “

But before he could finish, the she kisses him and then pulls away a bit touching his face, “Welcome home..“

Seeing the smile on her face, he couldn’t help but smile too and nod.

“I’m home”
